(4 Credits)Community Health Nursing is a nursing course that focuses on the promotion and protection of the health of populations. It emphasizes the nurse’s role in community assessment, health promotion, disease prevention, and the management of health problems at the population level. The course integrates concepts of environmental health, occupational health, maternal and child health, family health, school health, and disaster preparedness, using evidence-based interventions and population-centered strategies.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Define community health nursing and explain the nurse’s role in population-based care.
- Conduct community and family health assessments and identify health needs.
- Apply the principles of primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention in community health interventions.
- Demonstrate knowledge of environmental and occupational health and implement preventive strategies.
- Design and implement health promotion programs for maternal and child health, school health, and nutrition.
- Collaborate with families, communities, and health teams to promote wellness.,
