NS2201: Communicable and Non-Communicable Disease Control
NS2201: Communicable and Non-Communicable Disease Control
(3 Credits)Course Description:
This course explores the epidemiology, prevention, and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) with a focus on public health strategies. Students will examine disease transmission dynamics, risk factors, surveillance systems, and evidence-based interventions. Emphasis is placed on community-based prevention, immunization, health education, and global health initiatives.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Explain the epidemiology and transmission of major communicable and non-communicable diseases.
- Apply principles of prevention and control of diseases at the individual, family, and community levels.
- Analyze risk factors and determinants influencing communicable and NCD burden.
- Evaluate public health interventions including vaccination, vector control, and health promotion.
- Apply principles of health education and behavior change in disease prevention efforts.
- Design community-based strategies for managing and preventing both types of diseases.
