CUST is proudly accredited by the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Higher Education of the Republic of Somalia. Association of Somali Universities (ASU) Membership

CUST is an active member of the Association of Somali Universities (ASU), a prestigious network that brings together the leading universities across Somalia. Our membership in ASU highlights our commitment to maintaining the highest academic standards and our collaborative efforts to strengthen higher education throughout the country.

Collaborative Partnerships

We believe in the power of collaboration to enhance educational opportunities for our students. CUST has established strong partnerships through memorandums of understanding with several reputable institutions, including Jazeera University, Jamhuriya University, Darulhikma University, and Alhilaal University. These partnerships enable us to share knowledge, resources, and best practices, ensuring that our students receive a well-rounded and globally relevant education.

Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees is the highest governing authority at CUST, consisting of 15 distinguished members who hold the main shares in the university’s assets. Established by Tog Hiiraan Company, the founders and key investors of CUST, the Board is instrumental in shaping the university’s strategic direction and overseeing its overall activities.

University Senate

The University Senate operates as the second-highest governing body at CUST, functioning under the leadership of the Rector. This body is responsible for the operational and administrative management of the university, ensuring that its activities align with the policies set by the Board of Trustees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Policy and Oversight: The Board sets the general policy for the university, ensures adherence to educational standards, and supervises the university’s performance. It also fosters relationships with other educational institutions
  • Administrative Authority: The Board has the authority to appoint the Rector, approve the university’s annual budget, and plan fundraising campaigns. It is also responsible for the formation and cancellation of departments or centers
  • Executive Committee: An executive committee within the Board manages and guides the day-to-day activities and strategic initiatives of the university
