EDU 2306: Educational Administration and Management
(3 Credits)Course Description
This course introduces the concepts, theories, and practices of educational administration. It explores organizational structures, leadership theories, decision-making, resource management, and supervision in schools. Emphasis is placed on the Somali educational context, preparing female student-teachers for both classroom and administrative roles in resource-constrained environments.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
- Define and explain the principles of educational administration.
- Describe and apply major theories of management and leadership.
- Analyze administrative processes such as planning, organizing, staffing, and controlling.
- Apply decision-making models and problem-solving strategies in schools.
- Demonstrate skills in human resource and financial management.
- Evaluate the role of supervision and quality assurance in improving learning outcomes.
- Promote effective school-community relationships.
- Address contemporary issues in Somali educational administration, with gender-responsive leadership in mind.
