This course provides students with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to respond effectively to medical emergencies before professional medical help arrives. It covers the principles of first aid, assessment of injuries and illnesses, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), wound care, bleeding control, fractures, burns, poisoning, and basic life support techniques. The course emphasizes quick decision-making, safety, and the prevention of complications in emergency situations, with particular relevance to healthcare and community settings.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Explain the basic principles and goals of first aid.
- Assess emergency situations quickly and accurately.
- Perform CPR and basic life support techniques.
- Provide immediate care for common injuries such as wounds, burns, fractures, and sprains.
- Manage emergencies related to bleeding, shock, poisoning, and environmental hazards.
