(2 Credits)Course Description:
This course introduces nursing students to the principles and practice of health education and promotion. Students will learn to design, implement, and evaluate health education interventions for individuals, families, and communities, with emphasis on wellness, disease prevention, and behavior change.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Explain the concepts, principles, and importance of health education and health promotion in nursing practice.
- Explain concepts, theories, and models of health education and health promotion.
- Identify determinants of health and target populations for health promotion interventions.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate health education programs for individuals, families, and communities.
- Assess community health needs and identify appropriate interventions.
- Demonstrate effective communication and counseling skills in health promotion activities.
