This course provides a comprehensive overview of reproductive health, addressing the biological, psychological, social, and cultural aspects of human reproduction. It covers essential topics such as family planning, fertility, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), maternal and adolescent reproductive health, gender-based violence, and reproductive rights. The course emphasizes the promotion of reproductive well-being, prevention of reproductive health issues, and the delivery of equitable and culturally sensitive care. Students will develop skills in counseling, assessment, education, and community engagement related to reproductive health.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Define reproductive health and its components, including rights and services.
- Explain human reproductive anatomy, physiology, and the life cycle.
- Assess reproductive health needs across different life stages (adolescents, adults, older women/men).
- Identify and manage common reproductive health concerns, including infertility, STIs, and menstrual disorders.
- Educate individuals and communities on contraception, safe sex, and maternal health.
- Promote sexual and reproductive rights, gender equity, and informed decision-making.
- Provide culturally sensitive counseling and support in reproductive health settings.
- Recognize the impact of social, cultural, and economic factors on reproductive health outcomes.
